The Institution of Highways and Transportation, with CABE and English Heritage ran a number of workshops and surveys between 2004 and 2006 examining how people use streets, and how urban design affects people. Their initial report, Designing streets for people: how highways and transportation professionals can help make better places, is available online, and CABE are now developing a Good Practice Guide for Streets and Civic Spaces.
